Maintain media quality is the base of any social media application, and it is the biggest challenge that our developers faced. Along with maintaining media quality, they face storage issues too. After research on that, our developers came up with a solution of compressing images up to a specific limit, so the picture doesn't lose its real quality and occupies minimum storage.
A client had a unique idea which any user's followers post will present like blocks on a news feeds. The biggest challenge was implementing pagination where posts on feeds display in blocks based on time and to maintain all the posts without losing a single post. Our developers came up with a solution and implement time-based pagination logic to achieve block view in feeds.
As per the client's requirement, image cropping should be exactly the same as Instagram. And this was the biggest challenge our developers faced. After taking help from some third-party APIs, we developed a custom algorithm to achieve the same ratio of cropping as Instagram.
